Four Things Changed
How I Coach.
Weight, strength, discipline, and knowledge can all tell you something. But none of them, by themselves, tell you whether you are stewarding your body faithfully.
The Question Was Bigger Than Fitness.
Once I started asking, “What is your body actually for?” I also had to find a better way to recognize whether someone was living that answer out.
Someone can be very fit and still be driven by vanity.
Someone can be highly disciplined and still be brittle, obsessive, or unable to adapt when life changes.
Someone can know everything about training and nutrition—and still fail to practice what they know.
And someone else can be struggling physically while demonstrating extraordinary faithfulness with the body, limitations, and circumstances they have actually been given.
I needed a framework that looked deeper than appearance or performance.
The Four Things I Started Looking For.
Over years of coaching, these four qualities kept showing up—in the people who changed, the people who stayed stuck, in Scripture, and in my own life.
Integrity
Integrity is not perfection. It is honest alignment. Do your daily habits reflect the values you claim to hold? Can you tell the truth about where you are without exaggeration, excuse, or shame?
Grit
Grit is the ability to keep your commitments under resistance. It is not recklessness or punishment. It is learning to obey through inconvenience, discomfort, fatigue, frustration, and imperfect conditions.
Growth
Growth requires appropriate challenge. Your body adapts when it is asked to do something slightly beyond what it could comfortably do before. Stewardship includes developing the capacity to serve, endure, carry, move, and remain useful.
Awe
Awe keeps fitness in its proper place. Gratitude instead of vanity. Worship instead of ego. Your body matters—but it is not your god. Health becomes a way to receive, enjoy, and steward what God has entrusted to you.
Integrity. Grit. Growth. Awe.
Not four more things to become perfect at. Four lenses that help us see what may actually deserve attention.
Before You Score Anything, Notice What Jumps Out.
You probably already recognize yourself somewhere in the framework. That is useful information.
Which one feels strongest right now?
There may already be something worth recognizing and building on. Good coaching does not begin by assuming everything is broken.
Which one makes you a little uncomfortable?
That reaction may be pointing toward an area that deserves more honesty, structure, support, or intentional practice.
That Framework Became the Faithful Fitness Assessment.
I wanted a practical way to help people step back from the noise, look honestly at their current practices, and identify what actually deserves attention next.
Turn the Four Lenses Toward Your Own Life.
