Readiness Audit – Devo Support Day 1
Before Day 1
Introduction Recap — The Vanity of Fitness
Before the forty days begin, the introduction names the deeper question underneath this entire journey: what does caring for your body have to do with following Jesus? The answer is simple, but not easy: your physical condition affects your spiritual mission. This companion page is here to help you enter the devotional with the right posture — not vanity, not shame, not obsession, but stewardship.

Coach’s Intro Companion Audio
Start here before Day 1. This audio should help you lay down the pressure to “fix yourself” and receive the deeper call of Faithful Fitness: to steward your body as part of your walk with God.
A short welcome from Coach Alex before you begin Day 1.
Practice
Take the Mirror Test Without Condemnation
The introduction asks you to stand before the mirror — not to judge yourself, but to observe honestly. Do you have peace with the body reflected back at you? If not, that is not a reason to spiral into shame. It is an invitation to begin a faithful journey.
- Stand before the mirror for one quiet minute without posing, criticizing, or performing.
- Ask: “Lord, what have I believed about this body that is not true?”
- Write one honest sentence about where you are, and one faithful sentence about where you are willing to begin.

Journal Prompt
Where has my physical condition been helping — or hindering — my spiritual mission?
Consider your family, work, church, energy, mood, attention, pain, sleep, and ability to love others well. Do not write to condemn yourself. Write to tell the truth.
Then answer this: what would it look like for my body to become more of a blessing to others and an instrument for the Kingdom?
Watch For This
The Spectrum of Sin in Fitness
The introduction names two ditches. On one side are gluttony and sloth: neglect, numbness, avoidance, and abuse of the body. On the other side are pride and envy: comparison, obsession, and identity built on appearance or performance.
The narrow way between these extremes is stewardship. Stewardship means you are not the owner of your body. You are the entrusted caretaker. Your job is not to worship your body or ignore it. Your job is to train what you have been given faithfully.
